I managed to put an astonishing 180km on the car this past weekend, merely by driving around Toronto to visit friends. My goal was to put aside work for 2 days, and do my level-headed best to not even open the ThinkPad, but certainly to not connect to the office VPN and synchronize Notes.
I _almost_ [...]

Past, present, future
It’s already been a pretty full week, and this morning I was in desperate need of some distraction. Fortunately, my RSS reader was full of fun and interesting links:
* Metacritic has a great [summary representation of film critics' Top 10 Movies of 2004 lists][1]. (I especially like how the visual density of a block is [...]

Sure, now everybody’s doing it …
The new year has brought with it a surprising number of matrimonial announcements from friends. I’m glad that I waited (read: procrastinated) long enough to collapse them into a single contgratuatory announcement. Catching Up
Eleven days have passed in a blur, and although they were filled with events and discoveries, cataloguing them all here would most likely be boring for you and me. Still, you’re going to get a highlight reel:
First, I gave in to the [aforementioned wantlust][1] and ordered an iPod Shuffle:

Well, to be completely accurate, I hummed [...]

Do the shuffle
It’s early yet, and I’m often bad at self-reporting these sorts of things early, but I’m pretty sure that I have the [wantlust][] for the new [iPod Shuffle][shuffle].
Apple’s design mantra of “less is more” has gone asymptotic with the iPod Shuffle. It’s a bold and brilliant move, and makes a strong design statement both in [...]

Actual Phone Conversation
“Hello?”
“Hi, is this Mr. Mike Beltzner?”
“Yes, speaking.”
“My name is Diane from _[couldn't make it out]_, a dating service for single people. Would you be interested in hearing more about our services?”
“Uhm. I’m married.”
“Oh! That’s .. uh .. is there anyone in your household who’s single?”
“Nope. My wife’s married, too.”
“OK. Well, thanks for your time.”
“Bye.”
The strangest [...]
